By downloading, installing, or using CobaltPDF (the "Software"), or by purchasing a licence key through cobaltpdf.com (the "Website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the "Licensee") and Modus Squared Limited, trading as CobaltPDF ("we", "us", "our").
Subject to payment of the applicable licence fee and compliance with these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide licence to:
Licences are sold per developer seat and per project domain as described on the Pricing page. A "developer" means one individual writing code that uses the Software. The exact scope of each tier is defined at the time of purchase. In the event of any conflict, the tier description on the Pricing page at the time of purchase prevails.
You must not:
The Software may be used without a licence key for evaluation purposes. Trial usage renders a watermark on output PDFs. Trial builds must not be used in production environments or for commercial output distributed to third parties.
All paid licence tiers include access to updates published during the licence period and email support. Support is provided on a best-efforts basis for integration questions and confirmed bugs. We do not guarantee response times or resolution of all reported issues.
The free Community tier does not include email support. Community users may raise issues on the public issue tracker.
We offer a 14-day refund for licence purchases where the Software cannot reasonably be made to work in your environment despite good-faith troubleshooting. To request a refund, email support@cobaltpdf.com within 14 days of purchase with a description of the issue.
Refunds are not available where the Software has been used to generate PDFs in production, or where the issue is caused by your own infrastructure, unsupported platforms, or third-party dependencies outside our control.
All rights, title, and interest in the Software, its source code, documentation, and branding remain with CobaltPDF. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights. The Software is licensed, not sold.
Chromium, upon which the rendering engine is based, is distributed under the BSD licence. Relevant attributions are included in the Software distribution.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CobaltPDF shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business, arising from your use of or inability to use the Software, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the licence in the 12 months preceding the claim.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that grants you broader local rights, in which case those rights are not affected.
We may revise these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where the change affects existing paid licences, notify you by email. Continued use of the Software after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
